2017 Motivation Mantra

For the past few years, my family and I have sat down on New Year’s Eve to set smart goals for ourselves.  It’s an interesting way to see what is important to everyone and what they want to work and improve on.  This year, I made it even more specific and we set goals for 4 different categories; spiritual, health (mental and physical), fun, and money.  The goals have to be specific, not generic.

We also write down and talk about obstacles that could get in the way of each goal.  Finally we talk about steps and a plan to achieve it.  Sounds like a lot right?  It is not.  The boys, spend about 10 minutes at most on this and I post them in their room.

Along with goals, I wanted to create a set of mantras to look at every day.  (I did not make my kids do this..creating realistic goals was enough).   I wanted a quick and easy list of short sayings that I would like to remind myself of on a daily basis.  It takes less than a minute to read in the morning and starts the day on a positive note.

2017 Daily Mantras

Be Where You Are

I Can Not Be Upset With Another, Without Upsetting Myself

Pray and Invite God In

Choose Optimism

Express Gratitude

Speak Honestly and Truthfully

If You Don’t Love It, Change It

Set An Example

Do Not Make Judgements or Bias Assumptions

As for my 2017 goals, many will be part of my monthly challenge and keep me on my toes throughout the year.  You will have to stay tuned for that.

My husband and I leave for Belize in 3 days with some good friends and although I am excited, there is a lot to get ready.  I hope our babysitter Reece is on his A game, because he is about to be thrust into the world of teen and tween boys and become an insta-Dad.  (He should write a blog post about THAT experience. )

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy 2017 that will be full of memorable and joyful experiences!
